While the khukuri is tailored for males, the Khurmi knife serves as its female counterpart. Extremely versatile for use in the farm, this knife is also renowned for its defensive capabilities to protect it from predators in the jungle. It can serve various purposes on the farm like cutting branches, clearing bushes, vines, etc. The curved design of the knife makes it highly practical for tasks such as reaching out to branches and pulling them towards onself, chopping, kindling, and food preparation due to its easy & comfortable handling.

Throughout history, individual of men were often required to take up arms and defend their nations on the battlefield. In such circumstances, the wives of soldiers who remained at home, found themselves needing to ensure their protection. As a result, many women carried knives as a means of self-defense. These knives were designed to be easy to carry and lightweight while being equally functional for all types of household chores. The inspiration for the Khurmi’s design can be traced back to the Hasiya, a traditional sickle-shaped grass cutter. While influenced by the Hasiya, the Khurmi boasts improved size and finishing, making it a more refined and effective tool.

The 8″ Nepalese Khurmi Knife | Traditional Predator Knife stands out as a historic cutting tool. It has an 8-inch blade that is made from highly graded 5160 carbon steel with a polished and satin finish. The blade has an upper belly of 4 cm and a lower belly of 3.5 cm. The knife weighs 320 gm and boasts an upper spine thickness of 7 mm & lower spine thickness of 5 mm. There is a 4.5-inch long rat tail tang handle made from rosewood (Sati saal ) and steel. The knife has a slightly bigger ricasso that maintains to protect your hand from the sharp edge of the blade when you are using it. On the handle, we incorporated a rust-free iron lanyard at the bottom tip of the handle, providing a convenient means to hang the knife when it’s not in use.

They have years of knowledge and experience in crafting exceptional blades with knowledge & experience transferred through generations. They got their knowledge and traditional techniques from their father and grandfathers.
